Companies across California have a responsibility to provide products that work as advertised without bringing harm to the consumer. When a problem is discovered, typically the company will recall any of the product that is currently on the market or has already been sold. In addition, the company usually works to discover the source of the problem and correct it. This is all done in an effort to prevent further consumer protection concerns.
Typically, any product that is used in the care and safety of a child is of the utmost importance to the consumer. Recently, Graco Children’s Products announced a recall of a specific car seat model. Apparently, the webbing on products produced on a specific date in July 2014 has proven to be faulty.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the webbing used in this particular product batch has a problem being strong enough. As a result of this problem, the webbing could break and cause the child to be left without protection in the event of an accident. Graco is currently in the process of notifying owners of this particular car seat as well as dealers who sell this model. As a method of correcting the problem, Graco is offering to replace the web harness.
Consumer protection, especially as it relates to children, is a concern for many across California. Unfortunately, problems associated with products can have tragic consequences for the consumer. When this happens, affected consumers may want to pursue their legal options through the California court system.
